Today we’re joined by Ben Gritzewski, a travel agent and Mexico Specialist based out of our Houston, Texas office. We’ve asked him to help dispel some misconceptions about this destination and share his favorite things to do and places to go. As Ben likes to say: “Mexico. It’s still there!”
FROSCH Insider: What’s your favorite Mexican destination?
BEN GRITZEWSKI: Honestly, I have many favorites, but if I had to choose one, it would be the Yucatan region. There’s so much history and culture there as well as great beaches, restaurants, and hidden gems. I find something new every time I go.

FI: What’s the most under-appreciated region/city in Mexico?
BG: Mexico City
FI: What would you say to those who have reservations about travelling to Mexico?
BG: If their reservations are because of media-instilled fear, I will remind them about the Swine Flu non-epidemic that devastated Mexican tourism due to irresponsible and alarmist reporting. Otherwise, and depending on their reasons for travelling and/or concerns, I cannot stress too strongly that Mexico offers countless rewards for all who visit. There’s something for everyone. The value is incomparable. And with hundreds of daily flights between the US and Mexico, getting there and back is a breeze.
FI: What’s your favorite thing to do in Mexico that you can’t do anywhere else?
BG: Hang out at the haunts of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in Coyoacan, Teotihuacan, Cuernavaca and beyond.

FI: What should travelers know or do before going to Mexico?
BG: Contact their FROSCH travel agent who has lots of experience planning trips to Mexico. That way they’ll be assured the best possible trip and get the most out of Mexico.
Muchas gracias, Ben!
