Towering high above the famous Magnificent Mile and sharing an address with one of Chicago’s most famous shopping centers, the view from any room or suite leaves little to be desired.

Chicago’s Water Tower has a historyall its own, and is a major focal point along the famous Magnificent Mile. Located just across the street from the Ritz Carlton, it’s hard to pass without wondering what its purpose once was and is today.

The Ritz Carlton’s 12th floor lobby, complete with earth tones, deep woods, and a beautiful sky-lit fountain, welcomes guests and visitors with amazing views from the ‘BAR’ portion of the deca RESTAURANT + BAR. In true Ritz-Carlton fashion, deca is the type of restaurant where you are greeted by name and treated like royalty. 

During my most recent visit, my guest and I stayed at the Ritz’s sister property, The Four Seasons, in celebration of his birthday. We decided to have dinner at deca, as it came highly recommended by friends and coworkers. We made a reservation through the Four Seasons’ concierge, and upon arrival, were so pleasantly surprised! Not only was he presented with a personalized birthday card signed by all the employees, but we were also treated to a generous slice of sinfully delicious chocolate layer cake, accompanied by homemade whipped cream, chocolate covered strawberries, and “happy birthday!” message scrolled in chocolate on the platter. This was the perfect way to end a decadent meal, served by friendly and efficient staff.

After a meal like that you’ll probably be wanting to burn off some of those (delicious and totally worth it!) calories. Thankfully, the Carlton Club’s Fitness Center offers state-of-the-art exercise equipment and facilities, along with private exercise classes.

An adjacent pool and sundeck– with views of the city and lake– offer relaxation after your workout. You may also want to indulge in any of the many treatments at the Carlton Club Spa, which is located nearby the pool and workout facility, but makes you feel like you’re worlds away.
