Biking is one of the best ways to explore a new place, especially in Europe, where cars are smaller and traffic rules are more bike friendly than most U.S. cities. We’ve talked about bike-share programs before, but the bright tangerine of Milan’s communal two-wheelers caught our eye recently and merit their own mention. The program, called BikeMi, stores bikes at 100 locations throughout town and even offers an interactive map with real-time info on rental stations and bike availability.

How do you sign up? A weekly subscription– the best choice for visitors– costs just six euros and you can register on their website in just a few clicks. Then pick up a bike, ride it, and leave it at the station closest to your destination. Fashionable and environmentally friendly– how very European!

For Milan, we recommend Hotel Armani, part of our Milestones collection. To learn more about it and the FROSCH-exclusive specials we’re offering, click here.
