According to a new report from the Department of Transportation, the average price of airline tickets is at its lowest since 2010. The report states that average domestic roundtrip fares were $372 during the latter half of 2015, a decrease of more than 6% over the same time frame in 2014. Analysts attribute the reduced fares to the global drop of jet fuel; however, despite the overall trend, few fliers are seeing the impact on their tickets, as airlines have been slow to pass along the savings to customers. As the high demand for flights continues, passengers will likely see a limited and gradual drop in fares over the next few years.
