In April, a Boeing 737-800 Qantas aircraft and a Tesla Model S celebrated a new partnership by racing each other at Avalon Airport. The partnership aims to bring awareness to sustainability initiatives and to push for the development of greener options within the travel industry. Tesla is at the forefront of this; however, Qantas has been experimenting with biofuels for the past few years. Tesla owners and Qantas frequent fliers will both benefit from the partnership as well; complimentary Qantas Club memberships will be given to Tesla owners, and frequent fliers will get exclusive access to Tesla events. Behind-the-scenes, Qantas will be Tesla’s official airline in Australia and will offset the carbon produced by the car company’s corporate travels with its Future Planet program.
