Las Vegas, the city of neon lights that can be seen from space, is now harnessing the power of the sun in a big way. Recently, MGM Resorts International’s Mandalay Bay became the home of the largest array of rooftop solar panels in the world! Partnering with the New Jersey-based NRG Energy, the convention center rooftop project now glitters with 20,000 solar energy panels that supply 25% of the power used at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Experts say that the amount of energy the project saves is the equivalent of taking nearly 2,000 cars off US roads! Project executives believe that, ultimately, using less means spending less. If all goes as planned, the savings, conservation advantages, and positive public value may have other big hotel groups seeing solar in a new light.
