London Gatwick officially opened its new North Terminal security area, which features new security technology. The $47 million project (£36 million) has opened up five new security lanes that have seven “loading points” in order to reduce wait times and increase passenger intake. Seventeen new e-gates have also been installed, which will cut the time it takes passengers to get through security in half. The project took several years of planning and development, while gathering feedback from both security staff and passengers.
