According to reports, Hyatt Hotels is planning on changing their loyalty program beginning in March 2017. The new program will be known as World of Hyatt, as opposed to the current Hyatt Gold Passport. The change will also eliminate the current Platinum and Diamond status levels, replacing them with Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist status for top members. Other than the names, the big change is in how Hyatt members earn points. Under the new program, members will no longer qualify based on number of stays, but by number of nights and points based on dollars spent. For every one dollar spent, members will earn five points, with elite members receiving bonus points.
The new program will also encourage members to stay at various Hyatt brands by rewarding members with complimentary stays at Category 1-4 hotels. Current members of Hyatt’s loyalty program, who have status, will be transitioned to a matching level when the program begins. Diamond members who have requalified for 2017 will receive Globalist status, while Diamond members that have not requalified next year will receive Explorist status. Additionally, current Platinum members will receive Discoverist status. Lastly, anyone that has qualified for any Hyatt Gold Passport Status in 2016 and would have requalified next year, will be automatically upgraded.
More information on the loyalty program is expected to be released soon as the program is revamped.
