Last week, Delta Air Lines finally released details on their long awaited premium economy cabin, which was first announced in May. Known as Delta Premium, the new cabin will be available on select international flights beginning in late 2017. Delta plans on first introducing the cabin on their new Airbus A350, which they are scheduled to take delivery on next year. The airline will then roll out the service on their fleet of Boeing 777s in 2018. Both aircraft will offer 48 total seats in the new cabin. Among some of the characteristics offered in the new Delta Premium are a 38-inch seat pitch (compared to the 31-inch pitch offered in economy), a width of 19 inches (versus 17-inches in economy), a reclining ability of up to 7 inches, adjustable head and leg rests, and a larger entertainment television with power ports. Delta Premium passengers will also receive priority check-in, a welcome amenity, pre-departure beverage service, and an upgraded dining menu. While considered almost standard on many foreign-based carriers, Delta is only the second US airline to introduce a premium economy product . American Airlines introduced their first flights with premium economy seating at the beginning of the November.
