HAL PARTNERING WITH AMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN

Holland America Line has announced a new relationship with the long-running public television show, America’s Test Kitchen, beefing up the cruise line’s culinary education offerings. The program debuted on the Westerdam last month and will continue to be rolled out fleet-wide, with the next launch this month on the Nieuw Amsterdam on November 13. America’s Test Kitchen’s culinary experts have been training shipboard chefs to host new in-depth cooking demonstrations in the theater, redesigned as a replica of the TV show’s set, as well as to conduct hands-on classes for passengers onboard.

The cruise line plans to offer a complimentary 45-minute cooking demonstration, which will combine video, live instruction, and audience taste tests. Topics currently under development include Asian Dumplings, We Love Chocolate, and Meatless Monday Meals. A 90-minute hands-on workshop will also be offered to passengers for a $39 fee. The workshop will focus on topics such as Perfect Pies and Homemade Pasta and will take place in the ships’ cook station-equipped kitchens.
