AIRLINES DOING GOOD.

In honor of our philanthropic FROSCH Monthly theme this month, we’ve rounded up some of the most inspiring charitable efforts from airlines around the world.

Delta Air Lines
Delta’s annual “Breast Cancer One” employee survivor flight took to the sky last week, kicking off a month-long campaign to raise awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This year, Delta teamed up with Aeromexico, and for the first time, extended the special flight outside of the US to Mexico City. The 140 Delta employees and 5 Aeromexico employees onboard were each given a warm welcome and treated to a special dinner in Los Angeles at the JW Marriott. For the third year in a row, Delta customers were able to take part in the Breast Cancer One flight through a SkyMiles online auction. Three customers, who donated a total of 205,001 miles, were chosen to come aboard with a guest of their choice. In support of the campaign, everyone onboard dressed in pink while both Airlines decorated their planes in pink.

Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways recently launched a new Animal Welfare and Conservation Policy. In conjunction with the new policy, the airline also created a #Etihad4Wildlife social media competition via Instagram and Twitter as part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to promote wildlife conservation. The competition took place through October 6th to commemorate World Animal Day; the winner will enjoy a free trip to Sri Lanka, including flights, hotels, tours, and transfers.

American Airlines
For the eighth annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign, American Airlines customers and employees gave back to the world’s most vulnerable children. For the last two weeks of October (October 17-31), flight attendant volunteers collected donations from customers on select international flights using orange UNICEF Trick-or-Treat boxes. Additionally, the airline hosted an event at its Dallas/Fort Worth headquarters on October 27 to give employees the chance to contribute to the cause. Throughout the year, customers can support UNICEF by donating to the American Airlines Miles for Kids in Need program.

United
Last month, United Airlines partnered with several leading disaster relief organizations to help support families and individuals affected by Hurricane Matthew. For two weeks, the airline doled out millions of bonus miles to MileagePlus customers who donated to the organizations through the online CrowdRise campaign. United also matched donations (up to $100,000) to these organizations, increasing the airline’s contribution to disaster relief efforts to more than $4 million since 2013.
