Introducing the Viking Art Guide App

Anyone considering or already planning a Viking Ocean Cruises sailing can now preview the ship in a very unique way. Viking has released its own Viking Art Guide app, which passengers can download before their cruise to learn fascinating details of not only the art collections, but the ships themselves. As passengers wander throughout the Viking Star and Viking Sea, they’ll notice a headphone icon and number adjacent to art pieces, which correspond to an audio file on the app. Pieces can likewise be manually found in the app by navigating to the larger onboard venue in which it is present and then selecting it, or by simply typing in its number on the keypad.

The hundreds of pieces displayed in 36 venues are described in great detail within the app. Passengers can learn about anything from the exquisite photography of Alastair Miller to the sculptures of Nicolaus Widerberg.

One thing for passengers to keep in mind is that the app does not store all of the audio clips offline. Instead, the art playback is available onboard only with each ship’s specific set streamed to the app once logged into the ship’s complimentary WiFi connection. Preview images and audio descriptions of the ship’s venues are permanently stored on the app and available offline and on shore.
