Viking Ocean Cruises to expand Over Next Three Years

Viking Cruise Line began 2017 with a big announcement – 13 new itineraries are being rolled out over the next three years. Ranging from 8 to 23 days, the new voyages will include stops in new cities, like those in Asia aboard the line’s newest ocean ship. Highlights of the new itineraries include ports of call in Bangkok, Mumbai, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Bali, and Sydney. In addition, by the end of this year, Viking will introduce two new ships on Europe’s rivers, and by the end of 2019, Viking is expected to have six 930-passenger ocean ships sailing the seas.

Viking’s fourth ocean-going ship, the 930-passenger Viking Sun, is scheduled to debut in late 2017. The ship is sister to Viking’s first ocean ship, Viking Star, which debuted just two years ago in 2015. Viking already has an order in for an additional six vessels in the series to be delivered by 2020.

Viking Sun will sail maiden voyages to Cuba and the Caribbean before embarking on a 141-day world cruise that spans five continents. Viking Ocean Cruises specializes in expanding guests’ horizons and comfort on state-of-the-art small ships that are intimate and thoughtfully created. Due to the ocean ships’ smaller scale, they are able to make direct access into most ports worldwide.
