Since its acquisition of Virgin America last year, Alaska Airlines has been expanding its West Coast presence with new routes and city pairs on what seems like a weekly basis. Last week, the airline announced it was expanding its presence at Dallas Love Field (DAL) with two new daily flights to Seattle (SEA). The new flights will begin in August; one will operate under the Alaska brand and the other will operate under the Virgin America brand. In addition to the Seattle flights, the airline will begin flying from DAL to Portland (PDX) in August, and to San Diego (SAN) and San Jose (SJC) in February. To accommodate the new routes, Virgin America will cease flying from DAL to Las Vegas (LAS). The new flights will give Alaska 37 new West Coast routes since December.
