According to the latest Airline Quality Rating report released last month, US commercial airlines improved their operational performance in 2016. The report is based on several different topics including complaint incidents, mishandled baggage rates, and on-time arrival percentages. In 2016, on-time arrivals increased from 79.9% to 81.4%, while mishandled baggage dropped from 3.24 per 1,000 passengers to 2.7 per 1,000 passengers. Individually, Alaska, Delta, Virgin America, JetBlue, and Hawaiian Airlines placed highest in quality rating last year. The report is published by Embry-Riddle and Wichita State universities and is the longest-running performance study of US airlines.
