Following in the footsteps of other popular food delivery apps, Airport Sherpa launched in mid-July at the Baltimore-Washington airport, allowing travelers to order food for pick-up or delivery to their gate prior to boarding a flight. The mobile app uses technology that knows when a flight is delayed, a gate location is changed or a connection is altered, and allows passengers to place an order up to a week in advance.
Although this service is currently only available at the Baltimore-Washington airport, it is expected to expand into 15 other major US airports by the end of 2018. Delivery fees range from $3.99 to $7.99 depending on the distance from the vendor to the recipient; however, the app is free to use if you select to pick it up yourself.
