Fashion journalists, tourists, and Parisians themselves were all shocked to learn that designer boutique Colette will permanently close on December 20, 2017, after nearly 20 years in the First Arrondissement. Originally founded by Colette Rousseaux, who will retire at the end of this year, the trendy boutique full of designer clothes, records, and coffee table books helped to launch many aspiring designers by featuring their wares. Even the great Karl Lagerfeld was a fan and regular patron.
Fashion house Saint Laurent has expressed interest in the upcoming vacancy along one of the most sought-after shopping strips in Paris, where it would join existing storefronts from Balenciaga, Chloe, Comme des Garcons, and Fendi.
