Late last October, United Airlines launched a new non-stop route from Los Angeles to Singapore. The nearly 9,000-mile journey requires about 18 hours and secures the United route a โ€œTop 3โ€ spot on the list of longest international flights. United plans to introduce an even lengthier long-haul in January 2018 that flies from Houston to Sydney. Not to be outdone, Australian carrier Qantas has proposed adding flights between Singapore and New York, and even Sydney and New York in the next few years. Despite the ever-growing competition of long-haul flights, Qatar Airways still hangs on to the title of longest international flight with its Auckland to Doha route.
