On select weekends starting May 26 and lasting through September 9, artists following in the footsteps of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning will set up shop in Washington Square Park. Visitors in the area can browse the works of art on display, which range in style in media as well as purchase art. Paintings, sculptures, and photography will be on display, and artists ranging from NYU students to veteran New York artists will be on-site to share their creative treasures.
The best artwork receives awards from a select committee of art critics in diverse genres including watercolor paintings, mixed media, fiber-based craft, oil/acrylics paintings, woodcraft, glass/ceramics, and sculpture. Last year, Floridian artist Ken Orton won Best in Show for an abstract Dali-esque painting. Don’t miss your chance to experience public art outdoors!
