Delta Air Lines (DL) will begin a new color-coded boarding procedure on January 23, 2019. While the new procedure appears more complex, the airline is aiming to discourage passengers from queuing in the gate area prior to their boarding group being called. Passengers with special needs will still board first, followed by Delta One passengers, with Premium Select (international) and First Class (domestic) passengers boarding next.
Following Premium Select/First Class, Comfort+ passengers will board followed by Sky Priority members, and finally, Economy/Main Cabin ticket holders. The Main Cabin boarding process will consist of three (3) color-coded sections that will be displayed on the passengers boarding pass. DL credit card holders and Silver Medallion members will board with Main Cabin 1, and Basic Economy passengers will board in the final group.
