Passengers with peanut and tree-nut allergies now have the option to board American Airlines flights early. Flight-service manuals were updated last December to allow for allergic passengers to board early in order to wipe down seating areas, protecting them from potential allergens.
American Airlines hasn’t served peanuts in years, but it does serve a combination of warm mixed nuts to Business and First Class passengers on trans-oceanic flights. That mixture does not contain peanuts but given the severity of allergic reactions to a variety of nuts, it is understandable why the airline takes such precautionary measures.
