Really looking forward to that piping hot pesto pasta entrée on your First Class flight, only to find out that all they have left is the cold Mediterranean platter? United passengers can wave goodbye to that possibility, thanks to the airline’s new website dedicated to allowing passengers in select premium cabins to pre-choose their in-flight meals!
Passengers can choose their meal, or purchase a special, “off the menu” option, anywhere from five days to one day prior to departure. United will even send you an email reminder to do so!
Currently, only flights departing from Los Angeles (LAX) and Washington DC (IAD) are eligible to pre-select meals. The new service is being deliberately rolled out slowly to allow the airline to maximize its effectiveness before deploying this option network-wide later this year.
One word of caution for travelers: if for whatever reason, you need to change your flight after pre-selecting your meal, that selection will be void, and you’ll have to pre-select another meal for your new flight.
