Israel to Require ETA-IL for Entry by US Citizens Beginning January 2025

Beginning January 2025, US citizens must have an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) or a visa to enter Israel for business or tourism purposes for stays up to 90 days. Travelers can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) application online prior to travel for a cost of 25 ₪ (ILS). Upon approval, travelers will receive an eTA confirmation electronically. Travelers will be required to present a valid passport with a matching eTA prior to boarding a flight to Israel.

Until January 2025, US citizens may use their US passport to enter Israel for business or tourism purposes for stays of up to 90 days without a visa, including US citizens transiting Israel to and from the West Bank. US citizens may submit an ETA-IL application for no fee during a voluntary, pilot phase.

The eTA will be electronically linked to the traveler’s passport for up to two years; if a traveler applies for a new passport, they must apply for a new eTA.
